Seven things we must guard against …

The children of Israel were delivered from Pharaoh, to go and fight against nations bigger and stronger. They had 7 kings they had to go against, and we have 7 things we need to guard against:

  1. Live our life in the Word and prayer – be careful
  2. Live a life of service – give
  3. Live a life of empowerment – be filled
  4. Live a life of a warrior – be clothed
  5. Live a life of separation – be dead to sin
  6. Live a life of praise – be thankful
  7. Live a life of accountability – be transparent

Read Deuteronomy 7:1-2.

    Book Review in the LowVelder

Thank you to Retha Nel for a wonderful review of His Call, My All in the LowVelder.

“Once you pick it up, it will be very hard to put down until you’ve read every last word. Hennie Keyter’s His Call, My All is one of those rare books that sucks you in from the first word.

For any Christian, South African or person interested in the life of a missionary, this book is truly exceptional. Written from Hennie’s perspective and following his missionary work in Africa, it gives you a glimpse into Africa’s hunger for the gospel and the amazing effect God’s word has on people.

The book details Hennie’s life, with each chapter marked by the place and date the events that follow took place. Relevant extracts from the Bible intertwine with the text, underscoring the actions of the people in the book or adding an interesting perspective on that particular verse or verses.”

We need to have a mission in the centre of our souls!

John Wesley said: “To serve the present age, my calling to fulfill; O may it all my powers engage to do my Master’s will.”

He lived over 200 years ago and he was a man with a mission.  A man who helped with the spreading of the Gospel into England and America.

John Wesley also said: “My desire is to be fully stretched for God.”

Put the interest of God’s Kingdom first!  We must become motivated to move beyond our own concern and interests. There needs to be a mission at the centre of our souls.

When the winds of adversity come – people with a mission will be able to move others to follow because of trust that has been established on clear biblical values and principals.

In 2014 we need to keep on doing what God is calling us to do …

2014 is a new and exciting year.  For us in this New Year, we need to keep on doing what God is calling us to do.  Keep the main thing the main thing!

Joel 3:14 – “Multitudes, multitudes are in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

Micah 6:8 - “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy – and to walk humbly with your God.

In Joel, Chapter 1, at a time of devastation there came a call for repentance.

At the worst of time Joel was told to:

          • Blow the trumpet
          • Sound the alarm
          • For the Lord is coming
          • It is close at hand

Charles Dickens’ opening line from A Tale of Two Cities is, ‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.May our hearts ever be drawn to the lost, may we walk humbly before God, even in the worst of our situation may it be the best of time.

            A deeper longing after God

Misty Edwards, a songwriter, has these lyrics in her song Soul Cry, ‘Hunger is an escort to the deeper things of You, and You satisfy’.

Dudley Daniel said, “A leader who has a heart after God will always deal with those things that will hinder the work of God.”

If there is a hunger after God, living in the miraculous will be an everyday experience.

But that would mean a crossing over (our Jordan) from the things that would be offensive to the Holy Spirit.

And the Lord came and said: Get yourself ready, in three days you are moving into the promised land.”

            1. The time of crossing over will come when we least expect it, like it happened to the people of Israel.
            2.  It may well come at an inconvenient time. For the people of Israel it certainly was!
            • It was harvest time and the farmers had planted their crops on the Jordan Valley.
            • It was rainy season, and
            • The Jordan River was in flood.

Know that a deeper longing after God comes with a price.

He’s the reason, this season … for the hope within us

He’s the reason, this season … for the hope within us

Dear friends and family, we serve a Great King who gave us everything.

Philippians 2:6-11 … and being made in human likeness, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the Name that is above every Name.

This is our Jesus who gave His all.  We love you Lord Jesus, all hail to the King.

Thanks you dear friends and family for being on this journey with us.  May you be so aware of His presence with you.
